A Contract regarding the Construction of First 220kV Underground Cable was concluded on 13th of March, 2023 between JSC “Lisi Lake Development” and “Bemoni Engineering & Construction”LLC. 

Scope of works considers replacement of the section of the 220kV “Didube-3” and “Didube-4” Overhead Transmission Line with the underground cable. Technology of the works to be performed is specific due to cable characteristics and differs from the installation activities executed for the 35kV underground cable before. Correspondingly, for the ideal execution and conformity with the international standards, foreign Specialists and Experts are involved in the project, ensuring supervision of the works, as well as training and qualification for the local staff. 

In general, the introduction of high-voltage cable technology is important from the point of view of ecological and urban development, since underground cables reduce the risk of accidents and fires, the risk of health problems caused by electromagnetic radiation, eliminate the risk of emergency power outages caused by bad weather, and allow for landscaping and outdoor visual enhancement.  Accordingly, the mentioned project is one of the biggest steps in the development of green energy in Georgia.
